Wall design

There are many design options for walls. Different techniques, colours and shapes create different effects and moods.

Living room 1

The walls were firstly painted with a background colour, over which various colour glazes were applied with brushes, sponges and rags. The end effect depends upon the colours used and their pigment concentration. The anthracite stripe forms a clear border.

Bedroom 1

The walls were mottled by unevenly applying paint diluted with water and acrylic binder. The panels with the Fleur-de-lis, and the triangles at the top and bottom were done with stencils.

Container in the Botanical Garden

The storage container in the Botanical Garden in Berlin is very near to the greenhouses, so it needed to be embellished.

This project was a collaboration with Dörte Kordts.

The container is painted with acrylic paints, and is protected with clear varnish.

Bedroom 2

The walls are almost white, while letting subtle shadows show through. This makes them appear soft. The darker patches are painted first and then covered with cloudy white paint.

Bathroom

The walls are painted with acrylic paint. The surface is protected with clear varnish.

The room is painted to give the illusion of being underwater, with light coming from above. The fish on the surface therefore appear as silhouettes.

Hallway

The plain walls were given structure by dividing them into panels. To create the panels, strips of MDF were applied to the walls. They were then painted with an opaque paint.
